Head Coach of Gateway Football Club, Phillip Boamah has said that his team are battle ready to confront Unicem Rovers of Calabar in this weekend’s Nigeria National League, NNL match at home at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Speaking after his team defeated Fountain Football Club of Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State 3-0 in a rescheduled match in Abeokuta on Wednesday, Boamah said Gateway are poised to consolidate on the victory when they clash with the Calabar team.

The coach opined that if his players had played to instructions, they would have scored more goals in the tie against Fountain, adding that he would work on the team before the Unicem Rovers game.

According to the former Shooting Stars player, “Though, we won the match, we should have defeated them with more goals. My boys missed many goals opportunity, but that will be corrected before the next match. We are playing Unicem Rovers on Saturday and it is another home game which we must win.”

Head Coach of Fountain FC, Remi Lasebikan said that officiating in the match against Gateway was not fair. “The referee was not fair to us at all. I think he has been looking for a way to give a penalty to the home team since the commencement of the match and he finally have his way in the second half.

“If we have been allowed to play our match, it would have been okay. I wonder how my team could lose with such a wide margin in a match against Gateway who are not good enough,” Lasebikan said.
