Loss To Mali: Flying Eagles’ll Bounce Back —Coach Obuh

Flying Eagles coach John Obuh has said his team will not dwell on Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Mali in a 2013 AYC Group B match at the Stade Ahmed Zabana in Oran, Algeria.

“We can’t afford to dwell on the defeat by Mali. We just must be strong mentally for our next game against Gabon so that we win and stay alive in the competition, said Obuh after Sunday’s setback.

“It was unfortunate we lost as we did not plan to do so. We knew they will come out strongly against us, but we must now look to our next game,” he said.

Obuh bemoaned his team’s poor finishing in a game they bossed from start to finish.

“We had every opportunity to win this match, but we lost a lot of chances. We just needed to score one goal and we would have gone on to win this match,” he lamented.

Meanwhile, football enthusiasts have urged the Flying Eagles to improve their game to triumph at the ongoing U-20 AYC.

Former Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Alloy Agu, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN in Abuja that the Flying Eagles needed to improve their game if they hoped to make it into the next round.

It was a good game. However, they need to step up in the next two matches of their group B game if they intend to qualify for the next round,” he said.

Godwin Bamigboye, the Chairman of the FCT Chapter of the Nigeria Coaches Association, in his reaction said that all hope was not lost.

“If they can win their subsequent matches, they still have a chance of going through. However, this loss only makes our hopes for qualification very difficult,” Bamigboye said.
