The Amazing Shoprite Walk-In Fridge
With an inviting display of drinks which come at relatively friendly prices, the Walk-In Fridge at Shoprite, Ikeja City Mall, and its other stores in Lagos has become a magnet for many customers.
Shoppers planning parties, events or just want to buy themselves a few drinks can find the Walk-In Fridge drinks a good bargain due to their discounted prices.
The cold-room like giant fridge has a door and spacious interior through shoppers can walk through, and is stocked with mainly bottled and canned beer brands like Heineken, Guinness, Harp, Star, Gulder, among others, stacked in crates or packs. While bottles of Heineken and big Guinness Stout sell at a discounted N299.99, against the street price of N350; Gulder and Star both sell at N229, while Harp goes for N204, compared to the N250 they are sold outside.

The added incentive for the buyer is that he gets the drinks, inclusive of the bottle and liquid content, at the discounted prices, against the practice elsewhere where he has to exchange his empty bottles before he can buy the product. The only exception at the Shoprite Walk-In Fridge is that if you are buying the drinks in large quantities and you desire to put them in the branded crates, you don’t get that free. For the 12-bottle crate, you pay N575, while the 24-bottle crate attracts a N600 fee. An attendant at the chain store said the idea of the Walk-In fridge is intended to offer shoppers drinks at the best price and in an enchanting way.
“Aside from the cheap price, the idea of walking in through a giant fridge to buy your drink can really be interesting. Isn’t it?” the attendant asked.
