Robbers Attack FRSC Official In Edo, Shoot Marshal Inspector

A patrol team of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Iruepken unit command, who were on patrol at Irua, Esan Central local government of Edo state, were on Tuesday attacked by dare-devil armed robbers, leaving one of the officers seriously injured with a gunshot injury in his leg.

The Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of the Zone RS 5, Benin, comprising Edo, Delta and Anambra state respectively, Mr. Wole Olaniran, who confirm the attack on his men to journalists in Benin, however denied the killing of any of them in the attack.

Olaniran gave the name of the officer who was shot on the leg by the robbers as Nsikak Ekpo, a Marshal Inspector, adding that the wounded officer was alive and in a stable condition at the Irua Teaching Hospital.

According to him, contrary reports aired by one of the Benin City-based radio stations, “the officer is not dead but alive and in a stable condition at the Irua hospital. Doctors have removed the bullet pellets from his leg and he is alive and in a stable condition,” he said.
