Top seeds in the Femi Akinmade Tennis Singles Championship are leaving up to their rating as they stroke to the semi finals of the tournament which will be played this weekend at the Estate Tennis Club, Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

It is not surprising to see Tony Ihuoma, Engr. Tunde Oyetayo, Engr. Femi Akinmade and youthful Jimi Ogunmokun getting set to fight for the final tickets.

The month-long tournament has drawn 12 top players of the club who included President, Alhaji Lanre Aminu, Sam Ochulor, Dapo Salami, Ayo Abiloro, Lasisi Adeoye, Tunde Olomu and Sam Otolo, but they fell by the way like pack of cards unable to scale the preliminary rounds.

However, players that made it to the semi finals justified their places in the semi finals. P.M.NEWS Sports gathered that talented Adimi. Officer of the club, Jimi Ogunmokun will take on Engr. Tunde Oyetayo in one of the semi finals, while Sports Secretary, Tony Ihuoma clash with archrival, Engr. Femi Akinmade in the other tie.

The final ceremony is scheduled for Easter Monday as members of Estate Tennis Club want to use the occasion to celebrate the holiday with friends and families.

President of the club, Alhaji Aminu said that Femi Akinmade Cup is being staged to prepare the club for the forthcoming inter-club competition with Oyo Sports Club which will take place between 12 and 13 April.

“We are using this tournament to prepare ourselves for inter-club championship slated for next month in Oyo,” he said.
