World Cup: Oduamadi Relishes Goal Against Kenya

AS Varese winger, Nnamdi Oduamadi has expressed his joy at scoring the equalizer for Africa champions, Nigeria against Kenya in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The Harambee Stars appeared to be on course for a shock 1-0 win in Calabar until substitute, Oduamadi pounced in stoppage time.

The former under-23 international who also made his senior debut against Kenya in November, 2011 has now taken the time to review his goal that gave Nigeria a share of the spoils in the tension-soaked encounter.

“I am very happy getting this goal for my country. The importance of the goal makes me very happy,” Oduamadi told supersport.com after Saturday’s game.

The tricky winger has missed a large chunk of the game with injury and is happy he was able to hit the ground running upon his return.

“I’ve stayed out for a long time as a result of injury and I am happy to have made such a return,” he added.

Saturday’s game against Kenya marks Oduamadi’s second appearance for the Super Eagles.

Born in Lagos, Oduamadi started playing football at the local Pepsi Football Academy at the age of seven.

He left Nigeria in 2008 to join Milan, although he was officially signed only in January 2009 due to bureaucratic issues.

Oduamadi was the proud winner of Tom Tom’s $2,000 for the goal scored in the match.
