Disu Hails F/Eagles For Qualifying For WYC

Former coach of the Flying Eagles, Tunde Disu has commended the country’s U-20 team for qualifying for the FIFA World Youth Championship coming up in Turkey in June this year.

The four countries that qualified for the semi final of the ongoing Africa Youth Championship in Algeria will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship, WYC. Other WYC-bound teams include Ghana, Egypt and Mali.

Nigeria booked a place in the semi final after defeating DR Congo 3-1 in the last group B match played on Saturday.

Disu said he was satisfied with the performance of the Flying Eagles after losing their opening match against Mali and beat Gabon 1-0.

“We need to commend the Flying Eagles for qualifying for the World Cup. The team are getting better in each match they played in Algeria and I hope they will do well in their next match against Egypt,” he said.

Nigeria will play Egypt in the first semi final Tuesday, while Ghana will face Mali in the second semi final tie.
