Two of the 11 inmates of the Government Remand Home, Sapele who escaped last week have been arrested and returned to the facility.

Some inmates of the juvenile correction facility had escaped last week under circumstances yet to be disclosed by authorities of the Home.

The Public Relations Officer of Delta State Police Command, Famous Ajie, who confirmed the arrest of the two juveniles to P.M.NEWS on phone this morning, said nine others were still at large.

“As I talk to you, two of the escapees have been rearrested and returned to the Home, but nine others are yet to be seen. We hope that before the day runs out, we will know the latest development,” he said.

Ajie had on Sunday reported the jail break and announced that an improvised explosive device (IED) was defused by officers of the law enforcement agency from a residential building.

Ajie revealed that the remand inmates successfully launched their escape at about 8.30 a.m. on the particular day.

He said the suspects were members of a notorious criminal gang terrorizing Warri and environs, and were remanded at Sapele Remand Home by a Magistrate Court in Warri before their escape.
