With less than 24 hours to the commencement of hostilities at the inaugural African Athletics Championships holding in Warri, Delta State, athletes and officials of participating countries are in high spirits to make their mark in the Confederation of Africa Athletics, CAA, organised championship for youth athletes across the continent.
Captain Moustafa Hassan, President Egyptian Athletics Federation, EAF, told P.M.NEWS Sports in Warri that his athletes are battle ready to take on their counterparts across Africa. He explained that the team camped for over three months before traveling to Nigeria to participate in the championship.
Sydney Ackim Mushpi, coach of the Zambia contingent stated that his country is sure of going home with medals in the 100m for boys and girls despite coming to the championship with just two athletes. He claimed that both sprinters who are male and female are the best in their category in Zambia.
