Police Quiz Ekiti ACN chairman over murder allegation

The Police in the Nigerian western state of Ekiti on Tuesday invited the Chairman of ACN in the state, Chief Jide Awe, over the murder of one Ayodele Jeje on Saturday night.

The 37-year-old Jeje, a member of the opposition PDP in the state was killed in Erinjiyan Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesman of the police command in the state, Victor Babayemi, confirmed that the ACN chairman was invited “for fact finding’’ over the incident.

“ Mr Jide Awe was invited for fact finding in respect of the killing in Erinjiyan Ekiti at the weekend,’’ he said.

Two other persons, Mrs Julianah Adewumi and her brother, Gbenga, were also shot and injured by the assassins.

Awe hails from Erinjiyan Ekiti where he is a chieftaincy title holder.

The Chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr Makanjuola Ogundipe, on Tuesday commended the Commissioner of Police, Mr Sontonye Wakama, over the arrest of two persons in connection with the incident.
