Jonathan leads tributes for Oshiomhole on 60th birthday
President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated Nigeria’s Edo State Governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, who marks his 60th birthday today.
Jonathan said that Oshiomhole had lived a remarkable and eventful life in trade unionism, politics and governance at the highest levels, with the common thread of the ideals of unyielding rectitude, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of the common man.
The president said that Nigeria needed the re-commitment of “men and women of goodwill and committed patriots like you in our quest for national transformation and entrenchment of peace and stability”.

Jonathan said he was confident that Oshiomhole, “can always be counted upon to continue to give off yourself in the national interest’’.
He wished him many more years of God’s abundance and personal fulfilment.
The President’s tribute was contained in a letter signed by Dr. Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, a symposium on deepening Nigeria’s democracy will be held in Benin today.
