Pro Wrestling: Federation To Honour Ahmed, Aregbesola

Arrangements have been concluded by the Nigeria (Pro) Wrestling Federation to honour Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed and his Osun State counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola with the ‘Good Governance Awards’ for their numerous contributions towards the development of their states.

According to the President of the federation, Prince Hameed Olanrewaju Mohammed, both governors since assumption of office have through their developmental projects impacted positively on the citizens of their states. He said that plans are also underway by the wrestlers to honour other state governors who have given dividends of democracy to their people.

“As sportsmen we feel that the best way to encourage these governors on the good work they are doing is to honour them so that other states’ Chief Executives can emulate them and provide basic social amenities to their people.

“We are honouring Governor Ahmed because in the history of Kwara State, no governor has created 2,000 jobs for the youths like he did recently, while the Osun State Governor has through his people oriented projects, eradicated poverty in the state.

“Apart from these governors, we are also going to honour such governors as Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Babangida Aliu of Niger State, Ibikunle Amosu of Ogun, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State as well as Senators Oluremi Tinubu and Chris Ngige amongst others and it is going to be a continuous exercise,” he said.

While defending the decision of the federation to choose the governors, Mohammed noted that they sent visitation teams to all the states of the federation whose reports guide in the decision to award the governors. He disclosed that plans are underway to invite world renowned wrestlers that will perform in those states as an appreciation of the good work the governors are doing.
