Fire broke out at Alade, a Lagos popular market, located at the busy junction of the Obafemi Awolowo Way and Allen Avenue in Ikeja, official said on Sunday night.
Ibrahim Farinloye, a spokesperson of Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said his team was moving to the area.
“It’s true. There’s fire at Alade. We are moving there now,” Farinloye said.
Farinloye later said nine shops were affected.
He said miscreants who wanted to help extinguish the fire ended up destroying some shops.
“But the fire is over ,” he said.
