Golf: All Eyes On Woods
All eyes will be on Tiger Woods as the world’s best golfers converge in Georgia today to compete for the most prestigious major championship in men’s golf, the Augusta National.
Prior to the Augusta, Woods has won three PGA Tours this year at Torey Pines, Doral and Bay Hill, and no other golfer was close enough to challenge his fire power at all the tourneys he had competed for this year.
It has been 11 years since Woods won the Masters. The American returned to the world’s No.1 ranking after winning the 2013 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. According to the Masters groupings and tee-times in today’s 1st round, Woods tees off at 10:45 a.m. ET along with Luke Donald and Scott Piercy, while former world number one golfer, McIlroy tees off at 1:41 pm along with Fredrik Jacobson and Keegan Bradley.
McIlroy may no longer holds the world’s top spot, but said that his target is to win his first Masters tournament. He played well in last weekend’s tournament at Texas Open, but just came up short at second.
His better performance lately might have something to do with less pressure since losing the ranking to Woods. The first pairing which is composed of three golfers John Peterson, Sandy Lyle and Nathan Smith will tee off at 8:00 am.
