Polo: Nigeria Plans World Class Pitches

The Nigerian Polo Federation, NPF, has expressed the desire to ensure that polo pitches in Nigeria are transformed to world-class standard.

NPF’s National President, Francis Ogboro, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Zaria that the task was not impossibility.

“Ensuring Nigerian polo pitches compare favourably with those obtained in the developed nations is not an impossible mission,’’ he said.

Ogboro said, for example, work had commenced on the Kaduna polo pitch with a view to ensuring that it attains an international standard.

“We want polo facilities to be in good shape, and not only in Kaduna but across the country,” he said.

The NPF president praised the level of performance of participants at the just-concluded polo tournament in Zaria, saying “I see Zaria growing steadily in polo”.

On challenges facing the federation, Ogboro assured that the federation had none for now.

“Anytime we present our requests, our donors never turn us down.

“We have no problem assembling players anytime to play at home or abroad for any polo tournament,’’ he said.
