Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade; Femi Kuti, Adewale Ayuba, Obesere, Shina Akanni and other accomplished musicians have concluded arrangements to celebrate with veteran fuji artiste, Ayinla Kollington, as he marks his 50th year on stage on 28 April.

The event will take place at Time Square in Lagos and has secured the nod of notable artistes and prominent personalities in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

At a time when the industry has suffered the loss of quite a number of its founding members, stakeholders have described Kollington’s achievement as not just being remarkable, but one that deserves a standing ovation from every facet of the showbiz industry.

While many have lauded his immense contribution to the music industry and what it has become today, others have commended him for standing out for his originality and perseverance over the last five decades.

Kollington hails from Ilota, a village on the outskirts of Ilorin in Kwara State.

He was born in 1953 in Ibadan and in the late 1970s, he refined his sound by adding Bata drums and changed his band’s name to Fuji 78.
