Godfrey Gaiya, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Sports, has charged the Golden Eaglets to forget their 7-0 victory over Congo and focus on their semifinals match against Tunisia tomorrow at the ongoing African U-17 Championship.

Gaiya said that though the victory was “well deserved’’, the Eaglets should know that they must scale the hurdle of the Tunisian team to the final of the competition.

The legislator expressed optimism that the semifinals clash against Tunisia would be an easy game for the Eaglets going by the team’s preparation.

He urged the team to build on their togetherness and the competence of their coaches to overcome the North Africans.

“So, they should calm down and play their game and by this, we should be able to triumph.

Gaiya advised the team to forget the celebration for the World Cup ticket and focus on the African championship.

He pointed out that thought on the World Cup scheduled for October while the African championship was still on would mean “counting its chicks before they are hatched’’.

The Sports Committee chairman said he believed in the ability of the team and its technical bench to give a good account of themselves at the World Cup billed for the United Arab Emirate in October.

Gaiya noted that the team had always been good ambassadors of the country and would extend it to Africa when the World Cup begins.
