Globacom Hails Golden Eaglets

Leading telecommunications company, Globacom, has congratulated the U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets for booking a place in the semi finals of the ongoing Africa U-17 Championship in Morocco.

The Eaglets, who beat Congo 7-0 in the last Group B match to top the group had earlier defeated Ghana by 6-0 before losing 0-1 to Cote d’ Ivoire.

The team will now meet Tunisia in the semi final tomorrow.

In a statement in Lagos yesterday, Globacom commended the fighting spirit of the young Nigerians and tasked the technical crew to evolve ways to motivate the team to go all the way to the finals.

“We urge the Golden Eaglets to work towards defeating not only the Tunisians but also lifting the trophy,” the statement said.

“We also want to assure the team that Nigerians are behind them to succeed in the task ahead. They have made the country proud so far by their quick recovery from the loss they suffered to Cote d’ Ivoire in the second group game. They can only consolidate their good run with a win against Tunisia.”

The Nigerian team have also qualified to play at the  2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup which comes up in the United Arab Emirates in October.

Globacom is the major partner of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and official sponsor of Nigeria national teams.
