Sharks’ Progress Delights Ogunbote

Head Coach of Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt, Gbenga Ogunbote has said he is thrilled with the performance of the club in their last two NPFL matches.

The Port Harcourt side have picked up four points from a possible six in their last two games, and Ogunbote hopes this could be the start of a resurgence that could see the club move out of the drop zone.

“We want to believe this could be the start of our resurgence,” Ogunbote told supersport.com.

“We got a draw against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi and now we have beaten Bayelsa United, so I’m happy with the progress we have made in the last two matches. “The victory against Bayelsa United was a big relief, as a draw would have been a big set back.  “With this victory, I can say we’re well on course and we’ll do our best to consolidate on it.

“My target is to remain unbeaten in the next couple of matches, and I think it is achievable with hard work and determination.”

Sharks did show a lot of determination to come back from being a goal down at half time to clinch a hard-fought victory over neighbours Bayelsa United in their NPFL Week Nine tie at the Sharks Stadium.

Gomo Onduku silenced the home crowd in the 22nd minute when he nodded home a cross beyond a stranded Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Sharks levelled the scores through the brilliant Chiamaka Madu a minute after the restart, while Abraham Ezeoha got the winner in the 83rd minute.

Sharks have moved to 19th place on the NPFL log, swapping places with Wikki Tourists, who lost 0-3 to Heartland on Sunday.
