Okafor Ofiebor/Port Harcourt

The disputed leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Nigeria’s oil rich Rivers State, Felix Obuah has denied media reports that his faction has perfected plans to impeach the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Otelemaba Amachree and Governor Chibuike Amaechi.

Obuah made the denial at press conference at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt today.

He said: “At no time did I nurture or call any meeting of my executive to plan the impeachment of the Governor of Rivers State”.

He explained that his executive does not have the plan to create a tension in the state.

“Rather my plan is to unite every member of PDP in the state. I can’t work against the Chibuike Amaechi, the Executive Governor of Rivers State. I don’t have the power to impeach the Governor. I have not come divide the party but to unite the party as one family.”

Obuah said his executive was very ready to work with the Governor and will support him, like any other elected public officer in the state as long as they are transparent and deliver the political campaign promises made to the people.

“The resources of the state must “Goround”(his nickname).

“We will only disagree with him if he fails to be transparent and delivers on the campaign promises made to the people of the state.”

On the call made by Chidi Lloyd, the Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Rivers people to pour into the streets to protest against his faction of the party executive, Obuah enjoined Rivers people not to heed the call.

Besides, he claimed the masses that are happy with his faction and so would not be persuaded to protest on the streets of Port Harcourt.

Reacting to the Court injunction secured by the 27 lawmakers against their suspension from the party, Obuah said that the lawmakers had been suspended before the court injunction reached the party.

On what the party would do to Amaechi at the expiration of the 48 hour ultimatum to explain the status of the Controversial Bombardier Jet, he said the ultimatum had not expired.

Meanwhile, a political group under the auspices of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni People Forum led by Chief Ibe Eresia Eke, a former Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Transport Company, RTC, during Governor Peter Odili’s Administration, paid solidarity visit to Obuah-led Executive.
