Redeem Our Glory, Police IG Tells Newly Decorated Officers

Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, IGP, MD Abubakar, has counselled the nine officers recently promoted by the force to help redeem the image of the law enforcement agency.

Abubakar stated this while decorating the senior officers recently elevated from the ranks of Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive rank of Commissioners of Police.

The IGP reiterated that there was the need to reconnect with the people they serve especially in the face of global security challenges.

He reminded them that they cannot work in isolation and enjoined them to therefore cultivate and win the friendship and confidence of the people they serve, as this would go along way to improve the relationship between the police and the public, in the fight against crime.

He also reminded the officers of the high expectations placed on them by their subordinates and the public urging them to lead by example.

He emphasised that the office of the Commissioner of Police goes with enormous responsibilities that must be discharged with utmost diligence and competence.

He further reiterated the need for the officers to carry along their subordinate officers in the performance of legitimate duties, in the interest of the Force.

He warned that they must justify the confidence reposed in them by the present police management and challenged them to contribute their quota to the present move by the police administration to reform the Force.

The IGP used the forum to commend the spouses and family members of the decorated officers for their support and understanding, even in the face of the most uncondusive circumstances.

He enjoined them to remain supportive to the officers, as their quota of national service to the country.

Speaking on behalf of the nine newly decorated Commissioners of Police, CP Kudu Abdullahi Nma thanked the IGP and the Force Management team, for finding them worthy for the exalted office. He pledged their unflinching loyalty assuring that the officers would discharge the responsibilities of their new offices with utmost diligence.

The newly decorated Commissioners of Police include Kudu Abdullahi, Umar U. Shehu, Usman Isah Baba, Saidu Madawaki, Usman Yakubu, Abdulmajid Ali, Abubakar Adamu Mohammed, Abdul Salami, and Cornelius Kayode Aderanti

Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said the deployment of the new Commissioners of Police will be effected is being expected.
