COD Wins Lagos FA Cup

Nigerian professional side, City of David football team COD yesterday defeated Mountain of Fire football team 3-1 via penalty shootout after a barren draw at regulation time to win their first ever Lagos State Challenge Cup.

Football fans who came to the Agege Stadium yesterday were impressed with the performance of both teams.

MFM team were in control of the game,  putting in all their effort to get early goals, but they met a brickwall in goalkeeper Lawal Farouk of COD who denied them the joy of scoring.

Olatunbosun Sikiru’s scored an offside goal for MFM in the 29th minute.The goal, which was disallowed by the referee, did not go down well with MFM fans who felt the decision was wrong.

Olowo Femi’s free header would have given COD their first goal in the 35th minute before the half time. The second half witnessed several lost chances from both teams before the victors of the tension-soaked match were decided through spot kicks. COD Coach, Solomon Manaseh said that the best team won this year’s Lagos FA Cup and promised that his team won’t disappoint at the national Challenge Cup now known as the Federation Cup.

MFM’s coach, Ilechukwu Fidelis, congratulated COD for winning the tournament.
