Gombe United defender, McMarcel Obioha has said they would not underrate their midweek opponents in the NPFL, Dolphins, despite all the stories about the absence of most of their regular players.

The Port Harcourt side would miss the services of six players due to injuries or national call-up, but Obioha is convinced Dolphins can still present a formidable side, more so with the backing of their supporters at the Liberation Stadium.

He reckons that the depleted Dolphins side have earned their respect after forcing Kwara United to a draw in Ilorin.

“We have been analysing the situation at Dolphins since their coach Stanley Eguma raised concerns about the loss of key players to national assignments, but we also know they have a good squad and should be able to cope,” he told supersport.com.

“That they could go all the way to Ilorin and pull a 1-1 draw with Kwara United shows they are no pushovers.

“It is obvious the rookies in the team want to seize this opportunity to make a statement, so it would be dangerous to underrate them,” he said.
