Lagos State Takes Issue Of Child Rights Seriously

The Lagos State Government are one of the lead participants and supporters at the Upcoming CEO Forum on Children’s Rights and the Business Sector scheduled for 30 May in Lagos at the Wheatbaker Hotel.

The event hosted by the Children and Business Network Nigeria is an advocacy platform established to engage the business sector and business CEOs to support the development and protection of children in Nigeria through their HR Practices and CSR Targets.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs Sola Oworu, will give the opening address and the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola is expected to give the keynote address.

Ms Toyin Olakanpo, the founder of the network, said the active financial participation of the private sector in the support of children’s health, education, right to survival and protection, in partnership with the public sector and the civil/social sector, was key to the economic growth of this country; and that a nation which fails its children have ultimately failed.

The CEO Forum is sponsored by some of the top 50 brands in Nigeria, including Addax Petroleum Development (Nigeria) Ltd.; First Bank of Nigeria Plc; Diamond Bank Plc; Promasidor Nigeria Plc; Nestlé Foods Nigeria Plc; UBA plc  and Unilever Nigeria Plc.
