The Nigerian contingents which comprised of Jude Uwazie and Alex Adewale, ensured that Nigeria did not leave Turkey without winning a match having lost to Spain and Belgium earlier .

The win comes on the heels of Nigeria’s Men’s Doubles win over Croatia in the playoffs although the team eventually lost to their Croatian counterparts.

Meanwhile, National assistant coach of the wheelchair tennis team, Kayode Savage expressed his relief at seeing the players pull off such an important win to ensure that the country remains ranked among top wheelchair tennis playing countries in the world.

Savage also said that failure to win a single match at the championship would have spelt doom for Nigerian wheelchair tennis on the globe.

“It was a very important win for us because we can now be sure to compete with the world’s best wheelchair tennis players.

Moreso, our wheelchair tennis would have been dealt a major blow if we had lost all our matches because we would have been relegated to Group 4 and that would have meant playing against lower teams and players in the world” Savage muted.
