Black Stars Depart For Ethiopia Camping With 19 Players

Nineteen Black Stars players left Accra on Thursday afternoon to Ethiopia to continue preparations for next week’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

Two home-based players Mahatma Otoo and Rashid Sumaila, who were in action on Wednesday for their clubs Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League, were on board.

France-based defender John Boye was part of the team after missing the three-day non-residential camping in Accra.

Six players are expected to join camp in the East African country before their departure on 5 June.

TP Mazembe duo Solomon Asante and Richard Kissi-Boateng will be available after playing in this weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup final qualifying round second leg tie.

Also, Evian TG duo Mohammed Rabiu and Jonathan Mensah will be in action on Friday night in the French Cup final against Bordeaux.

Esperance defender Harrison Afful will arrive in Ghana on Friday and leave on Saturday to join the team.

Espanyol’s Mubarak Wakaso will team up with his international teammates next week.

Ghana’s squad will spend five days in Ethiopia where they will train on an artificial pitch.

The Black Stars will play Sudan on 7 June.
