Coach Okey Emordi has hailed Rangers as “Trojans” after they advanced to the group stage of the Confederation Cup ahead of CS Sfaxien.

Rangers held Tunisia’s Sfaxien to a goalless draw in Sfax yesterday to reach the mini-league rounds of the CAF competition after they won the first leg 1-0 at home.

Emordi, who led Enyimba to win the 2004 CAF Champions League, was full of praise for his team, saying “to God be the glory. I am proud of my boys. They did me proud today and fought like Trojans that we are known for. From here there is no stopping us and the trophy remains our target.  The Tunisians really gave us a good fight today but my players were up to the task. I am really happy.”

Meanwhile, Rangers will clash with another Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel and Mali’s Stade Malien in Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The other clubs in Group A are Saint Georges of Ethiopia with the top two clubs from this section making it to the semi-finals to be played on a knockout basis.

Rangers’ striker Efe Yarhere told MTNFootball.com that the draw in Tunisia has further boosted their morale as they fear no team in the group.

“No easy opposition is expected at group stage of this kind of competition, we are prepared for that. The draw against CS Sfaxien has boosted our confidence; we will take the game as they come. I am sure we will get through the group,” Yarhere said.
