Osun CPC Adopts Aregbesola For Second Term

The Congress for Political Change (CPC) Osun State chapter has publicly adopted Governor Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola for another term ahead of the 2014 governorship election.

At the Public Awareness Programme on the merger of the few opposition political parties in Nigeria which was jointly organised by Osun CPC in collaboration with a socio-political volunteer group, ‘De Raufs’ held at main hall of the GMT Hotel, Ring Road, Osogbo, Barrister Segun Oyewole, legal adviser of the CPC, moved the motion for the adoption which was seconded by Francis Kayode, Chairman of Osun West Senatorial District.

Acting chairman of Osun CPC, Alhaji Hamid Abdulhamid said the adoption of Aregbesola for second term was in fulfillment of the merger agreement as directed by the national council of the CPC.

He warned any person or group of persons that are planning to use CPC as machinery of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to desist from their act.

Alhaji Abdulhamid also paid glowing tributes to the party’s Youth Leader, Comrade Majeed Yahaya, who was absent at the adoption ceremony due to illness for the great role he played in bringing harmony to the CPC in Osun and for the success of the adoption ceremony.

Governor Aregbesola who was represented by the Commissioner for Cooperative, Commerce and Empowerment, Alhaji Ismail Jayeoba Alagbada, commended the CPC for adopting him as governorship candidate of the party in 2014 election in the State, pledging that they would not be left out in the scheme of things. He added that the adoption would ginger him to do more for the people of the State.

Aregbesola thanked the organisers for deem it fit to declare their support for his government and his second term bid in 2014, assuring the people of its government commitment to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of the State.

Pastor Folorunsho Longe, the National Financial Secretary of the CPC, who represented the National Leader of the party, General Mohammadu Buhari, delivered a goodwill message from the party at the national level at the occasion. at the occasion.

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the party, Awwal Kazeem led Hausa Community from the 30 local government areas of the state to the adoption ceremony.

Dignitaries that attended the ceremony included Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Kolapo Alimi, Director General of De Rauf, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, who delivered a keynote address, Dr. Femi Olufunmilade of Igbinedion University in Edo State, Comrade Moshood Erubami, a leading human rights campaigner in Nigeria and Executive Director, Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), Chief Dapo Oyewumi, a national leader of the CPC and a member of the merger committee of the party,  members of De Rauf and CPC party members in Osun State.
