In a bid to adequately prepare for the forthcoming African Basketball Championship, Afrobasket, taking place in Ivory Coast, Nigeria’s D’Tigers are billed to travel on a training tour of either Europe or USA to hone their skill for the tournament.
D’Tigers have been seeded as one of the top teams for the competition after the Nigerian team showed giant srides in the sport in 2012 especially at the London Olympic Games.
President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, Tijani Umar, said the target of the federation is to ensure that D’Tigers put up a good show at the championship in Abidjan.
“We want to prepare the team adequately for the task ahead. That is why we planned the training tour of either in Europe or America so that D’Tigers would be in top for going to Afrobasket in August,” Umar said.
Top three countries at the championship will represent the African continent at the World Championship in Spain next year.
