MKO Memorial Match: Fashola's All Stars Battle Ex-Abiola Babes

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State will join his All Stars International Football Club when they face a selected team of former players of the defunct Abiola Babes in a novelty match to honour the late Chief MKO Abiola at the Campos Square Mini Stadium, Lagos Island Wednesday evening.

The match, tagged MKO Abiola Memorial Championship, which is in its second edition this year, is put together by a former Abiola Babes star, Tajudeen Disu in conjunction with Office of Grassroots Sports Development to Gov. Raji Fashola. The governor will leave his busy schedule to be part of the match which kicks off 4p.m. and  play alongside his Chief of Staff, Mr. Lanre Babalola, Technical Adviser of Sunshine Stars of Akure, Fatai Amoo, goalkeeper Patrick Udoh, former Nigerian international, Henry Nwosu, Saheed Eko Odeyale, Nicholas Ukadike and Mike Onyemachara.

Disu will captain ex-Abiola Babes players which include Dehinde Akinlotan, who arrived the country Tuesday night to participate in the match.  Others are former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo, Yisa Shofoluwe, Raymond King, Bright Omokaro, Bremner Alada, Yemi Adebanjo, Ademola Adeshina, Toyin Ayinla, Danladi Ibrahim, Musa Zakare, Segun Agbayewa and Luis Igwilo.

Convener of the match, Disu told P.M.NEWS Sports that after the memorial match, players and friends of both teams would be hosted to a dinner to round of the event.

Ex- Abiola Babes beat All Stars of Lagos 1-0 to win the first edition of the MKO Abiola Memorial match played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
