Zenith B/League: First DeepWater Face Dolphins In Final

Defending champions of Nigeria Women Basketball League, First Deepwater Club of Lagos, will battle Dolphin club of Lagos in the finals of the Zenith Bank sponsored league that will come up tomorrow at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

To qualify for this stage of the championship, the coach Lateef Erinfolami-led Deepwater, owned by First Deepwater Discovery Limited, defeated Sunshine Angels of Akure by 80-46 points in the first semi-final played Thursday.

While former champions, First Bank Club of Lagos, who have not lost any match since the competition dunked off three months ago were defeated 64-72 by Dolphin in the second semi final match played same day.

Prior to the final match scheduled to dunk off at 4pm on Saturday, the third place match between First Bank and Sunshine will hold at 2pm inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Speaking ahead of the grand finale, chairman of First Deepwater, Engineer Babatunde Babalola, said his players have been charged for the match and poised to retain the league title they have won successively for the past three years.

The two finalists will represent Nigeria at the African Clubs Championship scheduled to hold later in the year.
