Curvy Afro pop singer, Donna Adja, popularly known as Donna Diva, is one lady currently enjoying rave reviews in the music industry. Her energetic video titled Gaga is making waves across the nation.
With a couple of singles to her credit, two videos and the latest Gaga going viral, there is no doubt that this songstress, is set for greater things.
In a chat with P.M.NEWS Entertainment Café, Donna Diva revealed that the planning for the production of Gaga video, started about six months ago, with her team putting the storyline together.
According to her, the storyline did not come out as planned, but they had to improvise and when the video eventually came out, it was okay.
The singer said she also had to personally work on the costumes, as the designers she initially contracted for the job couldn’t deliver.
Her words: “Gaga video was a multi-million naira production. I expended about N5million on the project because I wanted an extreme concept. A lot of innovations had to be brought to bear on the clips. First, I bought a new car, pimped in a peculiar manner, featured avatars and things like that. These are innovations that have not been seen in any video in Nigeria.”
Speaking on the erotic scenes in the video, Donna said it was all showbiz, as she wanted to convince her fans she was indeed a lady, as most people who saw her first video Shut Up thought she was “too tomboyish”.
Donna Diva has as inspiration the likes of Celine Dion, Mike Okri and Michael Jackson. However, she hopes to collaborate with artistes such as Tuface Idibia, Omawumi and Tiwa Savage in the nearest future.
Asked who she finds most competitive among female singers making waves in Nigeria, she said: “I truly don’t find anyone as a competition. I love all of them. This is a personal race which is not like gunning for a prize.”
