Empress Patience of Excesses

Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, is on the cover of Nigeria’s newsmagazine, TheNEWS this week.

Though the Nigerian constitution does not assign any role to her, she arrogates a lot of power to herself.

In our cover this week, we present how she has hijacked state power from her husband, giving orders to police chiefs, army commanders, SSS directors, including even the EFCC. She, a permanent secretary without ministry in her husband’s state of Bayelsa even intimidates governors, as being witnessed in Rivers State. Furthermore, she has ignored the warnings of the INEC, by launching 2015 campaign for her husband.
