Osun Assembly Orders College To Reinstate Sacked Lecturers
The Osun State House of Assembly has issued a two-week ultimatum to the management of the state College of Education in Ila-Orangun to reinstate sacked lecturers of the institution.
Mr Johnson Ojo, the Vice Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, gave the directive in Osogbo when the committee met with the management and governing council of the college.
Ojo warned the management that failure to comply with the order of the House would attract sanctions.
The committee expressed dismay that the college had flouted the directive given by the House to reinstate the lecturers more than three months ago.
It was learnt that the affected lecturers were sacked over a loan package acquired by the cooperative society of the school.
The House also urged the newly-appointed governing council to look for ways of generating revenue and improving standards in the school.
In his response, the Chairman of the council, Mr Oyeniyi Akande, represented by a member, Mr Oyewole Otitoola, lauded the House committee for its intervention.
Oyewole told the legislators that the council would look into the matter and take appropriate steps.
