3 suspected terrorists killed

Three suspected terrorists were killed in a pre-dawn raid jointly carried out by soldiers and agents of Department of State Service, DSS, in Guri Local Government Council of Jigawa, northwest Nigeria on Tuesday.

The spokesman of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army headquartered in Kano, Captain Ikedichi Iweha said arms and ammunitions were also recovered during the raid.

Items recovered during the raid include four AK 47 Rifles, five Magazines, 164 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunitions for AK 47 Rifles.

The statement further stated that, “the JTF on Tuesday 16 July, following extensive intelligence build up, a combined team of the JTF involving the NA of the 3 Brigade in Kano and the Kano State DSS conducted a pre dawn raid at a house occupied by members of the terrorist group in Abunabu village of Guri Local Government Council, Jigawa State.

“You may recall that the JTF had earlier warned following the declaration of a state of emergency in some parts of the North East region of the country, that some fleeing elements of the terrorist network out of the region, following ongoing military action against them, will be seeking refuge in other parts of the country especially areas with little security presence.

“Be rest assured that the JTF will not rest on its oars in ensuring the safety of the good people of Jigawa State and the States within the area of operational responsibility of the Brigade. To forestall any attempts by terrorists to hibernate in local government councils, the JTF has increased the number of its personnel in towns in addition to increasing the number of patrols especially in identified flash points.

“While counting on the support of the members of the communities we operate in, we continue to solicit for their cooperation in the provision of useful information which will aid our operation. We would like to also assure members of the communities of the treatment of such information provided with utmost confidentiality. We wish members of the general public a successful and peaceful Ramadan.”
