Dikko heads PDP panel filled with Jonathan's loyalists

To maintain discipline within its ranks, the troubled Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday appointed Second Republic politician and former minister of transport, Alhaji Umaru Dikko as the Chairman of its National Disciplinary Committee.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Tony Okeke, Acting National Publicity Secretary, PDP said the establishment of the Committee was pursuant to articles 57 (1), (2), (3) of PDP Constitution.

Dikko, the head of the controversial Presidential Task Force on Rice during under former President Shehu Shagari(1979-1983) who will chair the Committee ran away from Nigeria immediately after the military took over power in 1983. An attempt to crate him back to Nigeria to answer charges of corruption like his other colleagues was foiled by the British Police.

Dikko is heading the seven- member committee made up of mostly the loyalists of President Goodluck Jonathan, including King A.J Turner, the Obanema of Opume Kingdom, Bayelsa State.

King A.J Turner, was a former schoolmate of the President who is also widely regarded as a powerful member of Jonathan’s kitchen cabinet.

King Turner will serve as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee which also has as members Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Alh. Shuaibu Oyedokun, Hajiya Nana Ayishat Kadiri, Barr. Hussaini Diraki and Senator Emmanuel Agboti who will serve as the Secretary.

The Committee will be inaugurated by the National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur at a date to be announced later.
