Woman Remanded For Killing Husband

A house wife, Fatimoh Issah, in Ilorin, Kwara State, northcentral Nigeria, has been remanded at the federal prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin for allegedly killing her husband.

The order to remand the accused was made by an Ilorin magistrate’s court before which she appeared on a one-count charge of culpable homicide.

The accused was alleged to have hit her deceased husband with a hard object on the head during an argument over who impregnated her.

Police First Information Report, FIR, on the matter revealed that the accused callously used a big stone to hit the deceased during an argument as the deceased alleged that the pregnancy her wife was carrying belonged to another man.

According to the report, the husband, aged 48, died before he could get any medical attention.

Magistrate Folashade Lawal upheld the submission of the prosecutor, Inspector Godwin Asua, praying the court not to admit the accused to bail as investigation into the case was still on-going.

She therefore ordered the accused to be remanded in prison until 6 August when the matter would come up for further mention.
