Governor Fashola's father:

The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday, commiserated with the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, on the death of his father, Alhaji Ibrahim Ademola Fashola.

Pa Fashola died on Sunday night in Lagos at the age of 79.

Mr Tunji Shelle, Chairman of the party, described the deceased as a patron who related well with others.

“On behalf of my family and of the teeming members of our party in Lagos State, I express our deep sorrow on the death of Pa Fashola, the beloved father of Gov. Fashola.

“The late Fashola was simple, focused and a thorough bred Lagosian whose personal character identity was also a reason why the young governor got no pressure from his father.

“He was also known to be a silent achiever; it is very sad that Pa Fashola died before his son’s tenure in office ends.

“I believe he must have loved to have a post service reunion with his son, “ he said.

Shelle said: “we pray that the Lord bless his soul and grant the entire Fashola’s family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Also, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, Commissioner for Education, described the governor`s father as a nice man who did so much to give his children the best.

Mr Ade Ipaye, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, prayed for the repose of Fashola, praying Allah to grant those he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.

The State Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Henry Ajomale, described the deceased as a great man “who produced the actualiser of the dream and manifestoes of our great party. “

However, Mr Lanre Babalola, Chief of Staff to the governor said the late Fashola would be buried by 1p.m on Tuesday according to Islamic rites.

Babalola, who was among the visitors at the Surulere residence of the deceased on Monday told newsmen that the delay was to allow the governor return from Saudi Arabia.

Fashola at the weekend, travelled to Mecca for the lesser Hajj.

He is now on his way to Nigeria to be part of his father`s burial.

“Baba will be buried tomorrow. Preparations are on for that, everybody is shocked by his demise.

“The mood is sober. Gov Fashola is on his way from Saudi Arabia. Preparations are on, “ he said.

Other early callers at the deceased residence included Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas and Sen. Anthony Adefuye who were seen consoling the governor’s wife, Mrs Abimbola Fashola and other family members.
