Amosun Confirms Adesanya As OOU VC

Governor  Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, in western Nigeria has confirmed the appointment of Professor Saburi Adejimi Adesanya as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, OOU Chapter last week criticised the appointment, saying it failed to conform with due process.

In a statement today, Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa said  the substantive appointment takes immediate effect.

Adesanya, a Professor of Pharmacognosy was named the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University on 27th July, 2012 by the institution’s Board.

Prof. Adesanya had a Doctorate degree in Pharmacognosy from the University of London in 1984.

He also holds Masters in Philosphy and Bachelor of Chemistry from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and the University of Ibadan respectively.Prof. Adesanya who has teaching experience spanning about 29 years was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife from 2009-2012 from where he was appointed acting Vice-Chancellor of the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
