A  member of the National Assembly, Yakubu Balogun has described the registration of All Progressives Congress, APC, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the beginning of a new dawn in the nation’s politics.

He said the advent of the APC would also create a platform for the people to make a better choice in future elections in the country.

Balogun, who represents Lagos Island Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, said insinuations in some quarters that the party was formed to just hijack power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was not true.

According to him, the formation of the mega party was to provide an alternative platform for the electorate to make the right choice in future elections in Nigeria.

Balogun was of the opinion that the country was in need of a stronger political party that will address the yearnings and aspirations of the people which the PDP had failed to do since return of democratic rule in 1999.

He expressed optimism that the APC will have no challenges in the selection of candidates for election since the leaders of the merging parties have agreed to drop their personal ambitions in the overall benefit of the country.

Balogun asked Nigerians to give the APC necessary support to succeed in the task of rebuilding the country for a better future.
