The Ondo House of Assembly on Tuesday described as untrue the rumours that they are planning to impeach the state Deputy Governor, Ali Olanusi.

Hon. Dare Emiola, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, disclosed this in a statement issued in Akure.

According to the statement, issued by the assembly’s Press Officer, Mr. Anota Adebayo, the rumours are the handiwork of some media organisations that engage in sensational reportage.

It said that the issue of impeachment of the deputy governor was never discussed in the House.

The statement said that “the House is on recess currently and members have never converged to debate on any impeachment.

“To peddle such false information is unpatriotic and I see it as another ploy by the enemies of the state to create confusion.

“If the health of the deputy governor is not sound, then, such complain must come from the executive, but not as a rumour.”

The statement also said Mr Oye Aladetan, Chairman, House Committee on Information and Orientation, had dismissed the rumour describing it as a figment of the imagination of evil doers.

It said that there was nothing related to such development, and at no time was such issue discussed either in the house or by members.
