The National Working Committee of Nigeria’s People’s Democratic Party,PDP, today paid a condolence visit to Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State.
Acting National Secretary of the party, Dr. Remi Akintoye, who led the team to visit the governor at the State House, Marina said the Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur sent the 14-man delegation to condole with Governor Fashola and his family over the demise of Fashola’s father, Pa Ademola Fashola.
“Our chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur sent this delegation to convey his deepest condolence on his behalf to your family at this very time as your late father was his bosom friend and co-worker,” he stated.
He added that he benefited from the discipline exhibited Pa Fashola while he was still a youth.
“When we were growing up, we never knew what discipline was, this was one true character your father exhibited,” he said.
Speaking, Fashola urged the visitors to do all they could to preserve the ideals and values which his father stood for in the interest of Nigerians.
“The only other point to make is to implore those of you who knew him to do whatever little you can to continue to propagate the ideas that his life history represented; a very deep love for humanity, very strong moral values, there were things that were never worth the trouble for him when it divided humanity or when it devalued honour and so for me I hope that those are ideals that we can all connect to as we seek better side of the promise of our state and our nation”.
“I urge all of us in the interest of what is good to put honour and value ahead of them. Everything we strive to build would stand or fall in the presence or absence of those virtues. The strong virtues, they start from the family and they are translated to the community and from the community they spread into much more formal government structures like states, local governments, political parties and in that way we can express a stronger side of who we are as Nigerians,” he said.
