World Athletics: Nigeria ends up 24th on medals table
Thanks to Blessing Okagbare, Nigeria ended up 24th on the final medals table of the 14th IAAF championship in Moscow.
Okagbare won silver in the long jump and bronze in the 200 metres, to put Nigeria ahead of nations such as the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and South Africa.
The performance was Nigeria’s best since 1999. Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Ivory Coast did better than Nigeria. Kenya actually came fourth in the championship, behind the hosts, Russia, USA and Jamaica.
