The National Working Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has approved 22 August for the 62nd Emergency Meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
According to a memo signed by Mr Charles Akitoye, the Acting National Secretary of the party in Abuja on Tuesday, issues relating to the party`s forthcoming Special National Convention and South-West congress slated for 31 August 31, and 24 August and other pressing party issues are expected to be discussed at the meeting.
According to a source at the party’s national headquarters, the NEC meeting will also discuss some pending litigations against the party.
Among the suits is the one filed by Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the party`s formal National Secretary, who is contesting his removal from office in an Oshogbo High Court.
The court had declared that the office of Oyinlola was not vacant even though he was removed by an earlier court.
The nomination of Oyinlola’s replacement, however, is one of the main issues planned for the forthcoming South-West congress.
The PDP last NEC meeting was held on June 20.
The PDP NEC is the second highest body of the party.
