Globacom League: El-Kanemi thrash Warri Wolves

El kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri on Saturday walloped visiting Warri Wolves 3-0 in a Nigerian Premier League encounter played in Maiduguri.

The home team showed superiority over the visitors by dominating both halves of the encounter.

Rafel Jospeh opened scoring in the fifth minute of the thrilling encounter watched by a near capacity crowd at the El Kanemi Sports Centre, Maiduguri, while Ebube Opoku increased the tally in the 18th minute.

Yawale Musa made it three in the 20th minute.

El Kanemi Warriors Chief Coach Zakari Baraje described the match as satisfactory.

“We actually won because we were the better team. My boys played well according to my instructions,” Baraje said.

Meanwhile Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno has donated N100,000 each to players of the team for winning the match.

Shettima, who was highly elated after watching the match, also promised to pay the outstanding 50 per cent sign on fees of all the players and officials by next week.

“I am highly elated by your performance, we are proud of you, I want to congratulate you for the victory.

“I want to announce a token donation of N100,000 each to every member of the team,’’ he said.

Shettima added : “I want to inform you also that the state government will pay the 50 per cent balance of your sign-on fees by next Monday God willing.”

He urged the team to strive hard and win the league title at the end of the season.
