Two Nigerian Junior tennis players will be in Morocco soon on a North-African tour.

According to the President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, Engr. Sani Ndanusa, the federation are finalising plans to send out at least two players within the U-13 category for exposure in the North African country.

“Plans are in progress, though not yet complete, to send two of our junior players to Morocco on a North-African tour.

“I can’t confirm the date now because we haven’t concluded all the details that but the Federation are working hard to give the players a high level of exposure and nurture them to become world stars,” the Nigerian Olympic Committee President said.

Ndanusa also expressed his excitement at the participation of Alex Adewale in this year’s US Open, while also stating that it is good for Nigeria and Africa at large, to have someone compete in the ITF approved circuit.

He further hailed the progress of wheelchair tennis in the country and the doggedness of Adewale as well as his sponsors who ensured that the player has continued to improve.

“I’m so happy that Alex would play at this year’s US Open. He has been fantastic for Nigeria and the continent. I am not surprised that he would be hoisting the country’s flag at the grand slam.

“It is a good development for wheelchair tennis in the country and I believe it will extend to other players soon so as to continue building the sport in the country,” Ndanusa said.

The US Open started on Monday and Adewale has expressed his optimism about having a good championship.

“I’m prepared for this championship and I’m sure that I’ll do well because I’ve been training really hard,” he said.
