Nigerian attacking midfielder Abdul Jeleel Ajagun Wednesday signed a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee with Panathinaikos, the Greek Super League team announced.
Ajagun, 20, captained the Nigeria team which finished third in this year’s African Under-20 Championship.
At club level, Ajagun has played for Nigeria’s Dolphins FC from 2008 to 2013, making 92 appearances and scoring 39 goals.
He was a member of the Nigeria national U-17 Golden Eaglets that placed second in the 2009 edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup hosted in Nigeria, and scored two goals in that tournament.
He has played in two African Youth Championships with the Nigeria under-20 Flying Eagles led by Coach John Obuh. Ajagun captained the squad in 2013 as they placed third to qualify for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
On 21 June, 2013, Ajagun scored two goals in their 3-2 defeat to Portugal in their opening game of the U-20 World Cup.
