Glo Nigeria Football League: Ede Tips Enyimba For Double
Home based Super Eagles striker, Ifeanyi Ede has tipped Enyimba International of Aba to lift two trophies this season, the league title and also the Federation Cup.
Ede, who plays for the People’s Elephant, as Enyimba are popularly called by their teeming fans, made this disclosure after he helped his club to qualify for the final of the Federation Cup at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.
Enyimba defeated Lobi Stars of Makurdi 1-0 courtesy of a lone goal scored by Ede in the second half of the match.
According to the Eagles fringe player who has scored six goals for Enyimba this season, thrice in the Glo Premier League and Federation Cup respectively, their target is to win a double this season to prove their critics wrong.
“I want to score more goals, both in the League and in Federation Cup. If I’m given the opportunity, I want to continue to score in the league to make sure we remain on top of the table till the end of the season,” Ede said. With Enyimba currently sitting atop the league table on goals difference and having booked a place in the final of the Federation Cup, Ede believes the club can maintain their current form till the end of the season. “Right now, we are playing well and I hope we will continue to hit the right form for us to achieve our target of winning the league title and the Federation Cup this season.”
Ede also stated his desire to cement his place in the national team under coach Stephen Keshi, adding that his stint with the Eagles has gone a long way in improving his goal scoring prowess with Enyimba.
He said: “I think my invitation to the national team has really helped my game because I learnt a lot under the quality coaches in the team. And since I came back to Enyimba, I have been scoring consistently.”
