Use Of Chemical Weapons In Syria
The world must rise now and move against the President of Syria, Bashar Hafez Al-Assad for allowing chemical weapons to be used against his own people.
Despite stout denials that chemical weapons were used in the ongoing war in Syria, there is incontrovertible evidence that forces loyal to Al-Assad’s crumbling regime used such weapons following appalling scenes of death and suffering arising from the use of the chemical weapons.
The whole world is at risk when chemical weapons are used to prosecute a war because it is a threat to the entire human race. The effect of chemical weapons attack goes beyond the boundaries of a country. So what Al-Assad has done is not only against his people but also an attack on humanity in general and so he should be held to account for this gross inhuman act.
Interestingly, the United States of America and other Western allies are poised to take a bold step to stop this dangerous recourse to prosecuting the Syrian war by Al-Assad, who by every stretch of the imagination, is a sadist.
The western nations waited for too long before taking action against Al-Assad. For over two years after he resisted attempts by his people to remove him from power, he has waged a bloody battle against his people, causing hundreds of thousands of Syrians to flee to neighbouring countries. Now the United Nations is grappling with the huge humanitarian crisis the Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries have constituted.
No effort should be spared in removing the monster in Syria, no matter the stand of Russia which has been backing the blood thirsty tyrant since the civil war began in 2011. The imminent international military intervention should be speedily followed through to save innocent Syrians from their genocidal president.
