Motorsport: Nigerian Racing Eagle Join Formula Ford

Nigeria Racing Eagle, NRE,  has launched its NRE Formula Ford project, the Ford Series, known as Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship.

The junior drivers will compete in this series, which will be used for the team’s motorsport academy programme to develop future race drivers.

As part of the preparations, NRE  junior drivers Ovie Iroro and Nathan Wright began their training session with SWB Motorsport UK – one of the team’s technical partner.

The drivers familiarised themselves with the Formula Ford 2000 gear and braking system, communication anddata logging, seat moulding and fittings, steering wheel and feet position configuration, which are  key requirements for all racing series, including Formula 1. They also used an advance full racing car simulator  to practice speed and learn how to drive on different race circuits.

The next stage will be a scheduled 3 days testing at Turweston Airfield and Snetteron Race Circuit in the UK.

Nigeria Racing Eagle is the first and only International Motorsport Team, flying Nigeria Flag to represent Africa at the World of Motorsport. This is an historical moment for Africa Continent, as active participation at the top level of motorsport has eluded Africa all this while, despite the high numbers of Motorsport enthusiast among Africans.

Nigeria Racing Eagle has all its drivers to be of African origin, while also working in developing African technical crew to run the team in the near future.
